Scattered over the vast and
Vividly hued canvas of human history,
Are the expansive, black and corrosive stains of genocide.
Chillingly
With few exceptions
Christian light within those broad pools of darkness
Spattered in and out chaotically
A few isolated dots
Distinguished mostly by complicitous,
Cool gradations of gray.
Why not purifying light?
Steadfast, blindingly brilliant-
Hot penetrating pools of white radiance
Inexorably consuming the oppressive darkness
Restoring the fouled canvas surrounding us?

If you falter in times of trouble,
how small is your strength!
Rescue those being led away to death;
Hold back those staggering toward slaughter.
If you say, "But we knew nothing about this,"
Does not He who weighs the heart perceive it?
Does not He who guards your life know it?
Will He not repay each person according to what He has done?
