God and a Culture Committed to "Anti-Offensiveness" at Any Cost

The Reality and Problem of a Culture Devoted to “Anti-Offense” at Any Cost

In the end, if it were possible,

The only foolproof way
For me, to not ever offend anyone
Would be, if I were to become
Exactly like them -
Their thought patterns, values and actions
Assumed Reality:  A Global Utopia

The only foolproof way
For me, to not ever offend God
Would be, if I were to become
Exactly like Him -
God’s thought patterns, values and actions
Practical Reality: A Sword Upon The Earth

To the degree that I authentically become like Christ,
inescapably means (at some time, in some place and in varying degrees),
being offensive to everyone within the world…

No matter how much as Christians we might want to believe and try... our call to Holiness (set a part for divine use) cannot be reconciled with Humanity's call to "Sameness." And it leads many to the salient question of which entity is truly worthy of "worship?"

34 "Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

35 For I have come to turn " 'a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law--

36 a man's enemies will be the members of his own household.'

37 "Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;

38 and anyone who does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.

39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

 Matthew 10:34-39
